The Mid North Local Health Cluster has been successful in securing a substantial grant under the State Government’s Rural Health Workforce Strategy Grants.

The State Government has decided to provide a small number of grants under the Rural Health Workforce Strategy for immediate measures to support these communities.

These grants are to assist in any activities relating to the advertising, attraction and recruitment of doctors to rural areas with a current workforce shortage. Grants are not solely for rural Local Health Network (LHN) or hospital based programs, but are intended to be widely available for any primary care or community based supports which could be offered to encourage recruitment to a specific rural area. All towns within Country Health SA are able to apply for the grant.

This funding will go towards a partnership initiative in the mid north between the local hospital, MN LHC, UniSA and local government to provide more allied health into the Orroroo and surrounds area
