Double Swab Resource from RHD SA
RHD SA have released a Double Swab resource to assist in the response to the need to continue to look for signs and symptoms of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) within high risk communities whilst also swabbing for COVID-19.
Symptoms of Acute Rheumatic Fever coincide with COVID 19 symptoms, insofar as
- fever
- sore throat
- shortness of breath
- fatigue
- vomiting
- nausea
There has been some concern nationwide amongst the Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) control programs WA, NT, QLD, SA (and NSW) and ACCHO’s that with the focus being all about COVID-19 swabbing, potential cases of ARF are being missed.
